| The Paducah Symphony Orchestra |
The mission of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra (PSO), which celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year, is to bring the enjoyment and rewards of great music to increasing and diverse numbers of citizens of the region. To this end, the organization shall administer and sponsor a symphony orchestra and chorus of the highest quality. Its objectives shall be to offer a full range of concerts and performances of music of quality always with full cognizance of fiscal responsibility. It shall cooperate with other organizations connected with the arts and shall do those things which, in the judgment of the Board of Directors, will enrich its service and enhance the cultural reputation of the region.
This regional professional symphony orchestra, currently under the direction of Maestro Jordan Tang, is a cultural resource for the entire Western Kentucky region. The PSO, presently the Orchestra-in-Residence at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center for the Performing Arts, encompasses a wide range of ensembles, including the PSO Professional Orchestra, the Paducah POPS Orchestra, an auditioned adult Symphony Chorus, a multi-county Children’s Chorus, and a Music Education Program. For 30 years, the PSO has served as the premier musical organization serving Western Kentucky and the surrounding region, expanding its appearances through collaborations with community partners and enhancing the area’s cultural reputation.
